Damien Mulvenna

Director - Operations

Damien has over 25 years working within the insurance industry, with insurance knowledge and expertise that extends to dealing with the local insurance market, but also with the wider global insurance market including working in London, Vancouver and Dublin.

He has a knack for finding insurance products and solutions for those businesses with very niche or specialist scenarios that others in the industry often walk away from!

In addition to being a QPIB (Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker) and completing a Diploma of Financial Services (Broking) Damien holds a Bachelor of Commerce.

Scott Mitchell

Director - Business Development

Scott founded Cornerstone Risk Management, before merging into Cornerstone Risk Group with his business partner Damien Mulvenna.

Scott has extensive experience in all areas of general insurance and is particularly interested and experienced in the agriculture and commercial space. He also heads up Mergers and Acquisitions’ activity for Cornerstone, working as a partner with both the Resilium and Ardonagh Global Partners businesses.

Away from work Scott is married with two young boys and a volunteer coach of his local women’s rugby team.

Laura Morrissey

Operations Manager

Laura has over 14 years’ experience within the insurance industry. The bulk of her industry experience comes from having worked in London as a Senior Underwriting Technician supporting insurance underwriters across most of Europe, Canada, America, and South America.

As the Operations Manager, Laura oversees the Brisbane and Toowoomba offices and assists with the integration of outside practices into Cornerstone.

Outside of work Laura enjoys climbing, hiking, cycling and recently completed an ISM Level 1 certificate in mountaineering.

Stephen Alexander

Head of Broking

An experienced Insurance Adviser with 20 years experience, Stephen started his insurance career with Suncorp, progressing to the commercial insurance division and gaining valuable insight into the inner workings of one of Australia’s largest general insurers.

In 2012 Stephen commenced his broking career with Austcover in Brisbane, managing a diverse portfolio of SME clients. In 2015 he started his own broking company, Hayes Insurance Services Pty Ltd and after seven successful years as director of Hayes Insurances Services, Stephen merged his business with the Cornerstone Risk Group in 2022. in 2024 Stephen was appointed Head of Broking for the Cornerstone Risk Group.

Suzanne Andrew

Brisbane Operations Lead

Suzanne has extensive accounting experience, supporting businesses across a variety of industries and ranging from large publicly listed companies to SMEs.

Suzanne has brought a wealth of operational knowledge and efficiencies to the Cornerstone business since joining the team in 2021. She combines a practical approach while also adhering to the strict regulations that govern our industry.

Away from work Suzanne loves socialising with friends and walking strangers’ dogs!

Tyler Arnott

Assistant Account Executive

Tyler has 2 years’ experience working in the insurance industry, having been on the frontline of the Home & Landlord claims team at a large insurer before recently making his way into the broking world here at Cornerstone Risk Group. He is familiar with customer facing roles and is always happy to assist our senior brokers.  Away from work Tyler is dedicated to the gym and loves all things sports.

Jordan Bein

Account Manager

Passionate about serving his clients and getting best outcomes, Jordan has been working in the insurance industry since 2017, starting in the claims team at a major insurer before working his way up to lead a team specialising in Home & Landlord claims.

Jordan can confidently assist you in any of your insurance needs, whether this be your Home, your Boat, your Business or something niche to you.

Having lived in both Brisbane & Far North Queensland, Jordan takes a relaxed but goal driven approach when assisting his clients.

Jade Betteridge

Account Manager

Jade has been in the insurance industry since 2017 and has developed a wide depth of knowledge within the domestic, SME, commercial and corporate space. Jade has been an authorised representative, an assistant account executive, and an account executive with experience handling claims since 2017 (Domestic and SME claims). She loves building and maintaining great relationships with clients and prides herself on customer service. Outside of work, Jade loves spending time with family and friends, and going to the gym.

Hayley Bourke

Account Manager

With over 18 years’ experience as a qualified insurance broker, Hayley has a broad range of experience and knowledge in domestic, commercial & corporate risks, including claims handling from lodgement to settlement. Hayley enjoys building strong client relationships and the challenges of the ever-changing insurance industry.

Micah Bulan

Administration Assistant

Micah is a versatile asset with a background in the financial planning and general insurance sectors. With a strong foundation in time management, communication, and problem-solving, she consistently exceeds expectations and delivers exceptional results. Whether working independently or collaboratively, her motivated work ethic ensures effective performance.

Beyond the office, she prioritizes maintaining a healthy lifestyle through fitness activities, fostering mental wellness alongside professional growth. She finds solace in music, immerses herself in books, and captures moments through photography. However, her true passion lies in exploring diverse cultures through travel, savouring the beauty of creation, and indulging in culinary adventures.

Julie Butler

With her unwavering dedication and a strong background in reception and administration, Julie is an essential part of the team. Julie’s brought a sense of professionalism, efficiency, and a warm, approachable demeanour to the workplace.

Rotsen Calima

Admin Assistant

Rotsen has recently developed a deep appreciation for running. It brings her joy, fulfilment, and a sense of accomplishment. As someone who embraces an active lifestyle, running has become her go-to-activity for physical fitness and mental well-being. Away from work, she also loves to play with her cats and dogs along with her family.

Angelica Coronel

Admin Assistant

Angelica (also known as AJ) has 5 years of experience working in the car industry as a customer relations officer & insurance coordinator, in between AJ’s office-based job AJ also works part-time as a barista in a local coffee shop. Outside of work, AJ loves spending weekends with friends where they usually go hunting for a good coffee shop outside of town using their bikes.

Sandra Degasperi

Account Manager

Sandra is an experienced Account Manager having started her career in the Insurance Industry over 30 years ago. Sandra is client focused and values building long term relationships with her clients. She has extensive knowledge in all areas of General Insurance and will always strive to offer a high level of service to her clients.

Emma Gillett

Account Manager

Emma Gillett is a seasoned insurance professional with over 11 years of experience in the industry, ranging from claims to event response and broking. Holding a bachelor of Occupation Health and Safety, Emma integrates her passion for risk management with her industry knowledge to provide a solution-orientated approach to assisting her clients.

Her strategic approach and track record of successful claims resolution reflect her depth of experience and commitment to excellence in our field. Emma’s professionalism, collaborative mindset, and practical insight make her a valuable asset to our team.

Outside of work, Emma is kept busy with her husband and two children but in her minimal spare time she enjoys playing board games, getting lost in a good book, and watching movies.

Rebecca Higgs

Account Manager

Rebecca started in the insurance industry during her time in the UK working for Cunningham Lindsey Loss Adjustors. On her return to Australia in 2008, Rebecca relocated into intermediary claims with QBE before moving into the broking world in 2011 as a broker assistant. In 2015, Rebecca took on an internal broker role managing a portfolio of SME and Domestic clients. Looking for a change and a challenge, Rebecca joined Total Insurance Agencies in 2020 as an account executive getting involved in their specialty, heavy transport insurance. This role has continued under the merger with Cornerstone Risk Group.

With over 16 years of experience in the insurance industry, Rebecca is happy to assist with any of your heavy transport, business or domestic insurance needs.

Sue Hopkins

Account Manager

Sue has over 11 years of experience in the insurance industry and has built an extensive clientele base with a variety of insurance products.

After initially being employed as the ‘filing’ lady, Sue quickly moved up the ranks to become a Personal Assistant. In 2016, she naturally progressed into the Account Manager role and loves meeting new people and also growing her knowledge in the insurance field.

Sue is a part of a large network group and enjoys their weekly meetings which provides the opportunity for potential clients.

Away from work, Sue has been the ‘front door’ lady for a local Dance Studio for the past 14 years and also enjoys a friendly spar at her local Muay Thai club.

Andrew Johnson

Senior Account Manager

Andrew is an experienced insurance broker starting his career in 2002. During this time, he has built strong connections to the Brisbane and Toowoomba regions. He has extensive experience managing a diverse range of clients across all areas of general insurance, including business insurance, commercial property, construction/plant & equipment and rural lines.

Andrew is extremely client focused and enjoys building long term relationships with customers and colleagues alike. He has a firm belief in the importance of insurance as a community good and aims to identify the risks that customers face, finding appropriate insurance solutions to meet these needs.

He holds a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking).

Hannah Lopez

Admin Assistant

Hannah is someone who finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. Music is her daily companion, and she believes it has the power to connect people in profound ways, in both work and personal life, she seeks meaningful connections with colleagues, valuing collaboration and shared experiences. Reading is her escape into new worlds and perspectives while watching documentary films helps her gain insights into the complexities of our world.

Daise Lucero

Admin Assistant Lead

Daise began working at Cornerstone in July 2022 and has joined the team with extensive experience in Customer Service. This is her first role working in the insurance industry and has taken to role eagerly.

Outside of work Daise love spending time with family, playing with her cat and dog. In her spare time, she is also a tambourine dancer with Jesus Miracle Maker Church Global

Jen Lush

Account Manager

After jumping ship from the Childcare Industry, Jen has worked as both an Executive Assistant and an Account Manager throughout her 12 years in the insurance industry. She loves her work as an Account Manager, as it enables her to learn and experience a variety of areas of insurance. Jen is passionate, dedicated and very social. She loves to interact with clients to ensure that their specific requirements are met. When Jen is not at the office, you will find her hanging out with her Husband and 3 sons, singing karaoke, or unwinding with friends.

Louise Nelson

Account Manager

Louise has been working within the insurance industry since 2005. A number of these years were spent working for one of the country’s leading Sports, Entertainment and Leisure insurers before switching over to insurance broking in 2013. Her expertise and knowledge for these sectors helps provide vital support for clients within these fields.

Louise has obtained her Certificate IV in General Insurance and is also Tier 1 ASIC compliant. She also attends various seminars and workshops to keep up to date with industry trends.

Niamh Oliver

Assistant Account Executive

Niamh is one of our new recruits, and despite the fact no one can pronounce her name it doesn’t stop Niamh’s positive attitude and determination to learn about insurance. Her vibrant energy spreads throughout the office, creating an environment where everyone can thrive and have a productive day. In Niamh’s spare time, she enjoys playing rugby so she can have a few pints with the girls afterwards.

Daniel Ollerton

Assistant Account Executive

Daniel is relatively new to the insurance industry however is experienced in building and maintaining effective client relationships.
Daniel enjoys working in a fast-paced environment alongside the great team here at Cornerstone and looks forward to broadening his skills in the industry.
Away from work, Daniel enjoys playing and watching football, travel, and spending time with his mates.

Terry Phillis

Senior Account Manager

Terry has been providing business insurance advice and solutions since 2005 to clients located from Sydney to Port Douglas.

Having Lived in Sydney, Lennox Head, Gold Coast and Cairns, Terry has developed an understanding of the various perils that each geographical area presents to business, commercial property and home owners alike. Terry’s primary aim is to inform and educate his clients about the product that best suits their individual needs.

Mary Politado

Admin Assistant

Mary is a recent graduate with a diverse range of experiences in client assistance. While pursuing her studies. Mary kick-started her professional journey as an intern in the accounting department of the renowned insurance company.

During the challenging times of the pandemic, Mary’s adaptability shone through as she took on the role of a Virtual Assistant. Leveraging her skills in operations and accounting, she provided invaluable support to clients, ensuring smooth business operations even in remote settings.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Mary’s compassion extends to the welfare of animals. In her spare time, she finds joy in feeding and caring for stray animals in her vicinity. Additionally, Mary shares her love with six furry friends, fostering a nurturing environment for her pets.

Mary’s interests go beyond her work and animal welfare. She finds solace in the world of literature, indulging in the joy of reading. Exploring new destinations with her family is another passion she cherishes, creating lasting memories through travel experiences. At the same time, Mary appreciates the comforts of her home, finding relaxation in the simple pleasures it offers.

Georgia Pratt

Assistant Account Executive

Georgia graduated in 2020 and went on to study, obtaining a certificate III in individual support services, she had also been working in customer service for 5 years. Georgia started in the insurance industry in 2021 and is currently providing broking support to Senior Brokers and clients.
Away from work Georgia loves watching Rugby League and Socialising with friends and family.

Mark Russell

Senior Account Manager

Mark’s extensive experience in the insurance industry has allowed him to develop strong relationships with clients and provide them with personalized insurance solutions. His deep understanding of the Central Highlands district in Queensland enables him to tailor insurance packages that address the unique needs and risks of local businesses and individuals.

Beyond his professional life, Mark’s passion for golfing and fishing keeps him active and connected to the natural beauty of Emerald. Whether he’s teeing off on the green or casting his line into the crystal-clear waters, Mark finds solace and enjoyment in these outdoor activities, further enhancing his well-rounded personality.

Koert Slik

Senior Account Manager

Koert has been in the industry for over 43 years, spending time in local, national, and international broking firms. As a Director of the recently acquired MKS Insurance Services, he values the importance of trust, honesty, and commitment in all his dealings. For Koert, assisting colleagues within the industry is as much fun and rewarding as helping a client who has just experienced a major loss, and he’s always up for the next challenging project.

Outside of work, Koert enjoys the outdoors and is right at home hiking through the wilderness, skiing with his partner, Sue, and flying his drone.

Koert holds a Diploma in Financial Services (Broking) and a Bachelor of Business degree.

Georgia Stewart

Account Manager

Georgia possesses an impressive and extensive track record of more than a decade in the insurance industry and takes immense pride in assisting her clients with a wide array of insurance needs, ranging from domestic to commercial and strata coverages. Her genuine passion for her job and her clients shines through in every interaction, such that she is a trusted adviser in the eyes of those she serves.

In her spare time, she loves spending time with family and friends as well as her beloved cat who often accompanies her for leisurely walks in the sun.

Toowoomba Operations Lead

Carlea has been in the insurance industry for over 15 years. Her vast experience and expertise have made her an invaluable asset to the office where she has dedicated her entire insurance career. Highly professional, organized, and deeply committed to her role, Carlea takes great pleasure in interacting with clients and insurers alike.

She is not only a valuable resource for her team in the office but also a wealth of knowledge that everyone can rely on.

Account Manager

An integral part of the Cornerstone team, Lisa enjoys getting to know her clients on a personal level and tailoring insurance solutions that are specific to their particular needs.

In her time off work, Lisa has a passion for the gym, shopping (it’s good retail therapy!), planning her next exotic holidays and binge watching ‘Kath & Kim’ and ‘Say Yes to the Dress’.

Susan Wentworth-Perry

Senior Account Manager

Susan began her insurance career in 1996, focusing primarily on the building and construction industry. Specializing in Home Warranty and Construction Insurance, she provides risk management advice to clients ranging from residential construction to large commercial projects undertaken throughout Australia.

Susan is committed to ensuring a fair deal for all clients, particularly at the time they need it most – when they need to make a claim on their policy.

Matthew Wheelahan

Account Manager

Matt has been in the insurance industry for the past four years working through a variety of claims roles before to moving into broking. He comes highly experienced and with a whole lot of ambition.

He has spent a year with an international brokerage gaining experience with large multinational commercial companies, which holds him in good stead working with our SME clients.

Matt has recently joined Cornerstone Risk Group with a focus and passion for helping out SME clients especially in rural areas as he has grown up in North Queensland.
